The trails at Van Road consist of several self contained jump areas and pump-track style features. There are also raised dirt platforms between each area which are great for spectating from.
As you enter the site, the first two areas are small pump tracks suitable for beginners, there are then two medium pump/jump tracks and two large tracks. The biggest jumps are not for the faint-hearted and are designed for experienced dirt jump enthusiasts.
The trails have been well designed, but also with safety in mind. This means that in order to hit the big jumps, you need to have the technical ability to pump through rollers and round berms otherwise you won't have sufficient speed. There are mixed opinions about this but the facility wouldn't last long if there were ambulances showing up every five minutes.
The tracks here are designed for short travel, hardtail mountain bikes and bmxs so you will struggle if you turn up on a downhill or xc full suspension bike.
