REVIEW: Marsh Guard

Thursday 19 July 2012

Keep the grit and filth out of your face with this lightweight and cheap mud guard from Descent Gear.

This simple mud guard attaches to pretty much every model of fork and is a quick and lightweight solution to the grit in the eyes or on the goggles issue we all face when mountain biking in wet conditions. In Wales that equates to most of the time.

It simple to fit and when out on the trail seemed to be more than capable of achieving what it was designed for. Due to how small the Marsh Guard is, don't expect to come back with a clean bike and splatter-free legs. This just about keeps the crap out of your face but the rest of you will still need a very good wash. Its a great alternative to a full mud guard and is more versatile in its fitting style. Its even suitable for protecting your rear shock on many bikes by attaching just in front of your rear wheel.

The Marsh Guard doesn't come supplied with cable ties so you'll need four of these handy when you come to fit the product. Initially, it seems like it won't fit quite right but once you take up the slack on the cable ties, the guard actually becomes remarkably stiff and stays exactly where you want it. We were really impressed with its shape and strength, given how ridiculously simple the design is.
